Shaenna Loughnane
Shaenna has been involved in international development and the UK-based voluntary sector for the past 17 years, working with a number of small charities, both in the UK and in East Africa. Having held the positions of volunteer, Operations Director, Chair of Trustees, and CEO, and having joint-founded a small local charity in 2020, she understands all aspects of running a charity and the frustrations it can bring. Before working in the voluntary sector she ran her own large healthcare business for 15 years, winning several awards, including a National Training Award, Investors in People Gold and the British Dental Association Practice of the Year.
After completing an MSc in NGO Management, Shaenna founded Kuandaa because she wanted to use her knowledge and practical experience to support other small charities and allow them to focus on the things that matter to them and their communities.
Shaenna is currently the Chair of Trustees for a small local UK-based charity, a trustee for a small healthcare NGO working in East Africa, and is a member of The Interim Faculty Advisory Board for the Faculty of Remote, Rural & Humanitarian
Healthcare for The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
“This is an exciting time in the charity world as we move to a more locally-focussed and managed, collaborative, relational, and technology-driven sector. I love to work with small charity teams, helping them develop and realise their vision and goals. I am particularly passionate about working with local partners, strengthening communities, and empowering local people to be active participants in finding their own solutions – whether that be in the UK or internationally”
